2012-A year in review

2012 was a fantastic year for me. I got to be part of many weddings, meet many new people and had some great milestones.

Lets begin with the Ah-mazing Holly Ann. She’s inspirational, she’s gorgeous and I couldn’t be happier or more proud of her. Holly decided to start a weight loss journey a little while ago and earlier in 2012 we decided to go on a little hike to Governor Dodge and do a ‘progress’ photo-shoot. I can’t wait to see her for her finale photo-shoot! Check out her blog and give her some major props!

My neighbor and wedding dress designer, Paula from Very Tres Chic. I love anything vintage and whimsical. So when I saw Paula’s vintage wedding dresses I was immediately in love with each one. In July Paula held a photo-shoot for her 2012 dresses and what a weekend it was. Practically the entire summer of 2012, Wisconsin was in a drought (see the dreadful dead grass in some of the photos…)…then the weekend of Paula’s photo-shoot, it RAINS! But we made it through the 2 day shoot and it was great.

Family. Family photo shoots have to be one of my favorites. Especially with little kids. You just never know what they are going to do and chances are what they are doing is either hilariously comical or ridiculously cute.

Weddings! I got to be part of some gorgeous, beautiful, tear-jerk weddings in 2012. Even though it makes for a long day, I love being part of the weddings that start with everyone getting ready early in the morning and end with the bride and groom dancing the night away. Its great to see the whirl of emotions throughout the whole day and I’m so glad I’m able to capture all the special moments.

My old man. We have an English mastiff who turned 7 in December. Out of nowhere in 2012, he decided to become an old man. One day he just started groaning whenever he laid down or got up, he moves a bit slower, his face and paws are quite gray … But I love this guy and wouldn’t trade him for nothing.

I cut my Hair! So for the past 2-3 years I’ve been growing out my hair to eventually chop it off and donate it. Everyone kept telling me it was getting so long and they were jealous. When really I thought it was kinda becoming a pain in my butt and a hassle. While I loved having hair that went past my waist, I was tired of shutting it in car doors, zipping it up in my coat pockets and not being able to do much more with it then a ponytail since it was so long and heavy. So on the 27th I sat in the salon chair and told the stylist to cut 11 inches off! I chose to donate my hair to the Non-Profit organization Children With Hair Loss because they give the wigs to children and the families at no cost.

The final book of the MATCHED trilogy, REACHED, was released in November. For the past 2 years I anticipated hearing from Penguin about shooting the cover for each book, and 2012 was the final year we went through the process. Its kinda crazy and surreal to walk into Barnes and Noble or go onto Amazon and see the REACHED book set with my photos as the cover.

So those are some of the highlights of 2012. Can’t wait to see what 2013 brings and I hope  to see you in it!
